I am so blessed to have such a caring church family. It was a difficult decision to move to assisted living. This meant giving up my independence and my home. Your phone calls, cards and visits have been so helpful.

Back to School Bash
Back to School Bash is THIS SUNDAY, August 8th from 5-7pm at the Trussville Mall. Food trucks, live music, inflatables, face painting, and a lot of giveaways.

I thank the Choir for the lovely flowers and thank all of you for the generous gift you presented to me Sunday, along with so many kind words throughout my tenure. UMM Vegetable Dinner
The United Methodist Men will host a “Vegetable Dinner” on August 18, 2021 at 5:30 pm in the Christian Life Center. The menu for the dinner is baby lima beans, macaroni and cheese, fried okra, sliced tomatoes, corn on the cob, cornbread and banana pudding. Please sign up to attend in the Sunday School Classrooms or call the Church Office to make reservations. This is a fundraiser for the Methodist Men and we will be accepting donations for the meal.
Celebrate Recovery 12 Step Program
Beginning August 22nd at 3 PM, our Celebrate Recovery ministry will host a 12 Step Study Small group. We will meet each Sunday afternoon at 3 PM. It's open to everyone who wants to go on a journey of deep self-reflection and personal healing. The 4 set of books are $20 and can be purchased by August 16th through the church office or Shan Odom at pastor.shankay@gmail.com. Look for more information on this program through email.
It's time for Safe Sanctuary Training!
All church members who are involved in children and youth ministries MUST take Safe Sanctuary training annually. Thank you for your cooperation!
Safe Sanctuary training will be offered:

Wed Sept. 22 at 6 pm in the CLC
Sun. Nov. 14 at 10:00 AM (Location TBD)

August Leisure Group
The Leisure Group will be going to Decatur, AL on Tuesday, August 17th. We'll eat lunch at Big Bob Gibson's Bar-B-Q and tour the Cooke Museum of Natural Science. Be at the church at 9 am that day, we'll leave at 9:15. Museum tickets are $20, $17 for seniors. Sign-up sheets will be posted around the church or contact adam@fumctrussville.com to get on the list. Please sign-up by August 11th.
Mission Opportunity at The Community Food Bank Starting in August
On June 22nd several people from our church had the opportunity to serve at the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama packaging food items for disadvantaged families. It was a wonderful experience. We packaged enough boxes to feed 292 families. The Mission Team has decided to make this a monthly volunteer opportunity for the entire congregation. The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama has reserved slots for our church on the first shift from 9:00 to 11:30 am the fourth Thursday of each month starting August the 26th. August Golf Outing
The August Golf outing will be Saturday, August 21. Sign-up by August 15th. Location and tee times to follow.

Worship Tech Ministry Opportunities
The Worship Tech Team is currently looking for volunteers to assist in running the computer for the screens, the Sling for livestreaming and the soundboard. You will be taught everything you need to know and it is a great way to help in the production of our weekly services.
