Becoming Better Grownups
Adam McNeil will be teaching a new book study starting September 1 from 6-7 pm. The book is Becoming Better Grownups: Rediscovering What Matters and Remembering How to Fly by Brad Montague. This will be a 15-week study (with a break for Thanksgiving), ending on December 15. You can find the book at Target and online, the cost is around $15 per book. Kindle edition is available as well. There will be sign-up sheets in the Welcome Center and Transept. You can also SIGN UP HERE

August Golf Outing
The August Golf outing will be Saturday, August 21 at Roebuck Golf Course. We will meet at the church at 7 am, ready to leave by 7:15 am. Tee time is at 8 am. Cost is $39 per player. SIGN UP HERE or on the sign-up sheets in the Welcome Center and Transept. Sign-up ends Wednesday, August 18.

UMM Vegetable Dinner
The United Methodist Men will host a “Vegetable Dinner” on August 18, 2021 at 5:30 pm in the Christian Life Center. The menu for the dinner is baby lima beans, macaroni and cheese, fried okra, sliced tomatoes, corn on the cob, cornbread and banana pudding. Please sign up to attend in the Sunday School Classrooms or call the Church Office to make reservations. This is a fundraiser for the Methodist Men and we will be accepting donations for the meal.

Celebrate Recovery 12 Step Program
Beginning August 22nd at 3 PM, our Celebrate Recovery ministry will host a 12 Step Study Small group. We will meet each Sunday afternoon at 3 PM. It's open to everyone who wants to go on a journey of deep self-reflection and personal healing. The 4 set of books are $20 and can be purchased by August 16th through the church office or Shan Odom at pastor.shankay@gmail.com.

It's time for Safe Sanctuary Training!
All church members who are involved in children and youth ministries MUST take Safe Sanctuary training annually. Thank you for your cooperation!
Safe Sanctuary training will be offered:
Wed. August 18 at 6:30 pm in the CLC
Wed Sept. 22 at 6 pm in the CLC
Sun. Nov. 14 at 10:00 AM (Location TBD)

August Leisure Group
The Leisure Group will be going to Decatur, AL on Tuesday, August 17th. We'll eat lunch at Big Bob Gibson's Bar-B-Q and tour the Cooke Museum of Natural Science. Be at the church at 9 am that day, we'll leave at 9:15. Museum tickets are $20, $17 for seniors. Sign-up sheets will be posted around the church or contact adam@fumctrussville.com to get on the list.

Mission Opportunity at The Community Food Bank Starting in August
On June 22nd several people from our church had the opportunity to serve at the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama packaging food items for disadvantaged families. It was a wonderful experience. We packaged enough boxes to feed 292 families. The Mission Team has decided to make this a monthly volunteer opportunity for the entire congregation. The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama has reserved slots for our church on the first shift from 9:00 to 11:30 am the fourth Thursday of each month starting August the 26th. As we reopen, spaces are being utilized throughout the church by different groups. So, to ensure that your event or meeting is reserved and placed on the calendar, please be sure to contact the church office as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.

Worship Tech Ministry Opportunities
The Worship Tech Team is currently looking for volunteers to assist in running the computer for the screens, the Sling for livestreaming and the soundboard. You will be taught everything you need to know and it is a great way to help in the production of our weekly services.
