- We need all men, women and children (10 and over) to come out on Saturday, December 16th from 8am to 12pm to help put the beds together for our Sleep in Heavenly Peace Bed Building Event. Meet in the back parking lot. The Trussville Methodist Men will provide a light breakfast of sausage biscuits, beginning at 7:30 am. All you need are work gloves, as they provide everything else. Let's get these children in beds for Christmas! For more information, contact Kim Cooper at 206-655-8616. Visit Sleep in Heavenly Peace’s website at shpbeds.org
- LIVE NATIVITY ON THE FRONT LAWN - DECEMBER 18 FROM 5-7 PM. Bring the kids to see the animals and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while listening to live music. Please spread the word about this annual event!
- Make plans to come (and invite your friends to come) and enjoy our Choir Cantata on Sunday, December 17 at both the 8:30 am and 11:00 am Traditional Services in the Sanctuary.
- On Sunday, December 17, you are invited to the Trussville Community Chorus Christmas Concert at 5:00 pm in our Sanctuary. Come relax and enjoy the beautiful music of the season!
- For our last Wednesday Fellowship meal of the year, will be having a Christmas Party Potluck on Wednesday, December 20 at 5:30 pm. Ham, chicken fingers and dressing will be provided. Bring your favorite side dishes and desserts and have a great time with your family and friends!
- The Holiday schedule for The Story Disciple Class is as follows:
— No Classes on: Wednesday, December 20 (We will join in the Church Christmas Dinner); Sunday, December 24, Wednesday, December 27 and Sunday, December 31.
— Classes will resume on Wednesday, January 3 (No meal is served on January 3rd, so plan to bring your meal/snack.)
- Year-end giving for 2023 will cut off after the 11:00 am services on Sunday December 31, 2023. Funds received after that time will be counted in 2024.
- We gratefully acknowledge the talent and hard work of our ladies, Pat Glenn and DiAn Thompson. They created the banners behind the Choir loft for Advent and many other beautiful arrangements that grace our Sanctuary and other areas of the church throughout the year. Their gifts are greatly appreciated!
- A new Sunday school class of young adults is forming. Be on the lookout for more details in January.
- We need a few more members to help with our Homebound List. We currently have 21 Homebound Friends. We have 13 members who have volunteered to call, send cards and possibly visit these friends. If you would like to make this a personal ministry, please feel free to call Susan Marlow at 864.380.3132. She will give you all the information you will need.
- Technical support needed. If you enjoy working with computers, camera or sound systems, please contact Dan Shirah. We are in need of volunteers to help on Sundays (and sometimes special functions) with the technical support of the services. Your time investment would involve approximately one Sunday per month at this time after training.
- The Missions Committee would like to thank the church for their support of the Wednesday night fundraiser pancake dinner.
- If you have pictures of activities in your ministry (or around the church in general) that occurred from May 1, 2023 to current, please email them to Pastor Shan at shan@trussvillefirst.com. She is making picture collages for each ministry and will put all of the pictures in a video that we will share (hopefully) on January 1, 2024. This includes anything within the church and in the community, such as pictures from the community theater, mission trips, going to football games, birthday parties, circle lunches, etc. We want to celebrate how everyone has been committed to doing life together and being a witness to the goodness of God in the community!
- Save the Date: Women’s Day Retreat: “Better Together” - Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Guest Speaker is Laura Joseph. More information to follow.
- The Trussville Methodist Men will conduct their next monthly meeting on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Breakfast will be served at 7:00 am in the Fellowship Hall, followed by the meeting. Please remember that wives and children are welcome at the breakfast. Notify Allen Hatcher by phone or text at (205) 773-9591 if you will be attending the meeting.
- The Mission Team volunteers this month at the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama from 9:00 to 11:30 am on Thursday, December 21, 2023. We welcome ALL who wish to help! If you would like to join the team, please call Charlene Sharp at 205-835-2691 or email at csharp@bellsouth.net to register.
