UMM Monthly Meeting
The United Methodist Men will hold their monthly meeting on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at 7.00 a.m.. The speaker for this month will be Dr. Pattie Neill, Superintendent of Trussville City Schools. Please remember that we enjoy having wives and children attend the meeting. Please notify Allen Hatcher by text or phone at (205) 773-9591 no later than Thursday, November 12, 2021 to make a reservation.
New Safe Sanctuary Training Date
We will have another Safe Sanctuary Training session on Sunday, November 14th at 2:30 pm in the Youth Room. If you have not received your training for this year, please be sure to attend.

ATTENTION all Dollar Dash Shoppers!
Saturday, October 23rd, Chalkville Mountain Road-from South Mall street, all of Linden Street, all of Glenn Ave, and a small section of Highway 11 will be closing in a rolling pattern for the Trussville Witches’ Ride from 3:50 pm to 5:00-5:15 pm. This will block every way into and out of the First United Methodist Church parking lots.
We have permission for all of our shoppers and volunteers to park in the First Baptist parking lot off of Talley Street, between the Baptist and Methodist church. Please park in this parking lot. Walk to the parking lot through the walk-in gate beside the UMC parking lot off of Talley Street. Please see the attached maps for where to park and an alternative route to drive to and from the church anytime.
Naomi Girl’s Luncheon
The Naomi Girl's Pot Luck Luncheon will take place at the home of Pat Glenn on Friday, November 19th at 11 am. Please contact Linda Shaddix by Nov. 17, 2021, to make your reservations. Our next meeting will take place in 2022.
Children's Ministry Upcoming Events
- This Sunday, October 24th, will be our 3rd grade Bible presentation Sunday, at both the 8:30 and the 11:00 Grace Vision services.
- Trunk or Treat:
It's TRUNK OR TREAT time!
We are hosting our annual Trunk or Treat in the back parking lot on Sunday, October 31st from 4:00 - 5:30 PM We need decorated trunks AND candy donations! We also need volunteers to direct traffic that day. You may sign up for a trunk here.
To donate candy, we accept only individually wrapped candy, please. Donations may be dropped off in the candy bin next to the Children’s Ministry Office. If you would like to volunteer with directing traffic/parking, please email Katie Morse - katie@fumctrussville.com
- Bring a Buddy Challenge:
Throughout the month of October, our children can participate in a “Bring a Buddy to Church” challenge. They can bring friends to Sunday School, church service, or Wednesday Night LIVE throughout the month and we will tally up points at the end of the month. There will be other ways to earn points as well. The top 3 points leaders will earn a prize, and there will be a group prize for hitting the goal that you won’t want to miss! Be on the lookout in your emails and on our Children’s Facebook page for more details!
- Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes have arrived! Our goal at TFUMC is to be able to fill 100 shoeboxes this year, so be sure to pick up one (or more) for your family SOON. You can find the display in the Transept and the Christian Life Center. Please drop off your filled shoeboxes at the church during the week of November 8th in order to return them in time for National Collection Week. When delivering your boxes to the church, please remember to include your $9 donation per box for shipping. Make checks payable to Samaritan's Purse. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Circle One Pecan Fundraiser
Once again this year, Circle One will be taking pecan orders. The order deadline is October 25th to ensure delivery by Thanksgiving - just in time for holiday baking. The prices are $11.50 per one-pound bag of pecan halves and also $11.50 per one-pound bag of pecan pieces. Mission Opportunity at The Community Food Bank
The Mission Team has a monthly volunteer opportunity at the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama from 9:00 to 11:30 am on Thursday, October 28th. Please call Charlene Sharp at 205.835.2691 or email at csharp@bellsouth.net to register to volunteer.
UMCOR Donations
Our church will be collecting monetary donations over the next few weeks for UMCOR to assist hurricane victims. Please make your check payable to TFUMC and put UMCOR in the memo line. The cutoff for donating to UMCOR through the church is October 31, 2021. After this cutoff date, your donations can be mailed directly to Global Ministries/UMCOR, P. O. Box 9068, New York, NY 10087-906 and should be marked Advance #901670 (UMCOR US Disaster Response and Recovery.) Thank you.
