Community Connections - September 8, 2024


- Sunday Services Changes: Due to the ongoing carpet and flooring installation in the Sanctuary, on Sunday, September 8th, our Traditional Worship service at 8:30 am will be moved to the Christian Life Center. Our Grace Vision service will remain at 11 am in the Christian Life Center and we will not have an 11 am Southern Gospel service.

- Come join us for a delicious meal on Wednesday night, September 18 at 5:30 pm in the CLC for the New Beginnings Sunday School Class Fundraiser. *The menu is: Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Baked Beans, Chips and Dessert.

- We will begin collecting candy donations next week for our annual “Trunk or Treat” in October. Please place your donations in the bin next to the Children’s Ministry Office across from the Fellowship Hall. Watch for more information to sign up for a “Trunk” to follow soon.

- We are excited to participate with the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child again this year. Shoeboxes should be available shortly and will be placed in the Transept and Welcome Center for you to pick up, along with information on how to pack your Shoebox gift. The filled boxes, along with the $10 shipping cost, will need to be returned to our church by no later than Sunday, November 10 to allow time for us to deliver them to the collection point. Thank you.

- Fall Children’s Consignment Sale
Sale Dates: Friday, September 13-10 am-8 pm, Saturday, September 14-8 am-2 pm (Many items are 50% off!) Please visit the website tmccsale.com for more information and pre-sale shopping times.
--TEAM Dollar Dash Saturday, September 14, 4-6 pm and Sunday, September 15, 2-4 pm. Located in the Fellowship Hall. Please enter through the front doors of the church. Everything is $1. CASH ONLY.  Due to limited space NO strollers or children are allowed. Church doors will not open until the Dash begins. Thank you for your continued support of the sale!  

- If you would like to place a floral offering in either the Sanctuary or Grace Vision in honor of or in memory of someone, please contact the church office for available dates.  The cost is $40. Please make the check payable to FMCT and put Flowers on the memo line.

- The Naomi Girls’ September lunch will take place at Irondale Café, 1906 1st Ave. N., Irondale, AL 35210 on Friday, September 20th at 11:30 am.  Please let Linda Shaddix know if you plan to attend.

- Thanks for your help with the Naomi Girls’ 2024 service project. We have now raised a total of $2,495 for Hope Lodge. All the info and envelopes are in the Transept/Welcome Center.

- 5:30 pm Wednesday Night Dinners in the Christian Life Center:
*Wednesday Night Serve Team—After disaffiliation was complete, we were excited to be in fellowship with each other and it just made sense to bring back our Wednesday nights dinners. What a great turnout and you made them a great success. We continued those fellowship dinners through the summer, since we had Bible study groups meeting. With fewer people attending, we were not always able to cover the cost of the meal. So, we have devised a plan to help make up the cost.

We will do potluck fellowship dinners for the month of August but will take up donations at these meals. (*see below) On September 4th and 11th, we will not have a Wednesday meal due to the Labor Day Holiday and the Children’s Consignment Sale.

After that, we need you to help so that we can continue with Wednesday Night dinners. What we are proposing is that your Sunday School or Small group take a Wednesday between September 11 and December 18 and volunteer to help. Your group will plan, serve and clean up for the meal. Any donations will go first to the cost of the meal and anything you collect over the cost goes to your class or group for your projects. You would only be looking at signing up for one or two times in order for the ministry to continue from now until December.

We are asking you to contact the church office and sign up for one of the available dates so we can continue this time of food, fellowship and building relationships. Remember that the Church is not a building or even a worship service. It is all of God’s people coming forth to provide for one another. That is when we operate best as a community. This is an opportunity to serve one another and to serve God.

- Celebrate Recovery
It's time for Celebrate Recovery's annual Step Study group to begin. This is our 5th year to host the study. It will begin Sunday, September 8 from 3 to 4 pm. The books are $20 for the set of 4 books. This study runs through April. To sign up, please see Pastor Shan or Thad Ellison.

Get your recipes ready! The 5th Annual Chili Cookoff will be October 22nd. Please see Pastor Shan for more information or to sign up.

- We are replacing the carpet and tile in the Sanctuary. Your donations toward this are greatly appreciated. Please mark your donation “carpet” in the memo line of your check.

- 'Little Jesus’ Adventures continue...we all need a little more Jesus and you can help.  We are continuing this project but need more Little Jesus figures to give away.  Mark your gifts “Little Jesus” and thank you!

- The Trussville Methodist Men will conduct their next monthly meeting on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Breakfast will be served at 7:00 am in the Fellowship Hall, followed by the meeting. Notify Allen Hatcher by phone or text at (205) 773-9591 if you will be attending the meeting.

- The Mission Team volunteers this month at the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama from 9:00 to 11:30 am on September 19, 2024. We welcome ALL who wish to help! If you would like to join the team, please call Charlene Sharp at 205-835-2691 or email at csharp@bellsouth.net to register.
