Special New Year’s Eve services are: 8:30 am - Traditional & Grace Vision (no 11 am services)
- To be counted toward 2023, your giving must be received in either the offering plate or the church office by noon on Sunday, December 31 or you may give online up until midnight of December 31, 2023.
- Rick Sharp will begin a new Bible study, “The Book of Acts” on Wednesday, January 31 at 4:00 pm in the Women’s Study Room. Bring your Bible, no other book is required. This will be a verse-by-verse study directly from the Bible. Text or call Rick at 205-835-2690 for more information or to sign up.
- Naomi Girls Luncheon - Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11:30 am at the Cracker Barrel in Trussville. We will have a guest speaker, Candy Strickland, to share with the group about our new project for the year, Hope Lodge. Hope Lodge specializes in helping cancer patients have a place to stay during treatments. If you are a widow attending First Methodist Trussville and would like to become a part of the group, or if you plan to attend the luncheon, please contact Linda Shaddix.
- We gratefully acknowledge the talent and hard work of our ladies, Pat Glenn and DiAn Thompson. They created the banners behind the Choir loft for Advent and many other beautiful arrangements that grace our Sanctuary and other areas of the church throughout the year. Their gifts are greatly appreciated!
- A new Sunday school class of young adults is forming. Be on the lookout for more details in January.
- Have you completed the member information update, either online or hard copy? Whether you are a long-time member or you have just recently joined the church, you will need to complete this form so that your membership information is in our database. This is very important and much appreciated! If you have not completed the form yet, they are still available in the Transept, Welcome Center and church office, as well as online. Please fill out yours today and turn it in to the church office! Thank you.
- We need a few more members to help with our Homebound List. We currently have 21 Homebound Friends. We have 13 members who have volunteered to call, send cards and possibly visit these friends. If you would like to make this a personal ministry, please feel free to call Susan Marlow at 864.380.3132. She will give you all the information you will need.
- Technical support needed. If you enjoy working with computers, camera or sound systems, please contact Dan Shirah. We are in need of volunteers to help on Sundays (and sometimes special functions) with the technical support of the services. Your time investment would involve approximately one Sunday per month at this time after training.
- Women’s Day Retreat: “Better Together” - Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Guest Speaker is Laura Joseph. Refreshments will be served for breakfast with coffee from Maple Avenue Coffee House. The Methodist Men are providing soup for lunch and Jeff Coe and Marcia Segers will be playing music for us. There will be door prizes and a special gift for each attendee. The cost is $25 (paid at sign up) which will cover food, speaker, etc. There will be a morning and afternoon session with discussion. We will also have a couple of our women sharing sister stories about their walk with Christ. Childcare will be available. For more information, contact the Women’s Ministry at tfmwomen@gmail.com.
- The Trussville Methodist Men will conduct their next monthly meeting on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Breakfast will be served at 7:00 am in the Fellowship Hall, followed by the meeting. Our guest speaker will be Trussville’s Mayor Buddy Choat. Please remember that wives and children are welcome at the breakfast. Notify Allen Hatcher by phone or text at (205) 773-9591 if you will be attending the meeting.
- The Mission Team volunteers this month at the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama from 9:00 to 11:30 am on Thursday, January 18, 2024. We welcome ALL who wish to help! If you would like to join the team, please call Charlene Sharp at 205-835-2691 or email at csharp@bellsouth.net to register.
