Choir Talent Show Fundraiser
The Chancel Choir will be hosting The Great Choir Talent Extravaganza and Dinner Fundraiser on Wednesday, November 16th at 6pm in the Christian Life Center. If you would like to showcase your talent as part of the show, please sign up using this link.
CR & Church Without Walls
Our Celebrate Recovery team will be supporting the Community Church Without Walls this Christmas season by donating to children in need. An ANGEL TREE will be in position beginning the first weekend in November. Please consider sponsoring a child! The child's name and sizes etc. will be on the Angel tags, please take one and purchase items (it is suggested that no more than $100.00 be spent per child) to be returned to the church by December 10th. Church Picnic Lunch at Camp Sumatanga
Sunday, November 6th at 1:00 PM at the Darby One Pavilion (near the water). We ask that everyone bring food with enough to share. The church will provide chicken fingers and all paper products (plates, napkins, utensils, etc.). Sign-up sheets can be found in the Transept, Welcome Center and in the Sunday School rooms. Please sign up today so that we know what you plan to bring and how many chicken fingers to purchase. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs and/or blankets. Look forward to seeing you there!
Children’s Ministry
As we are trying to find the candidate to try and replace our Dear Katie, I will be trying to help fill in the gap. So, if you have suggestions, need to communicate anything about your child or our children’s ministry, please reach out to me anytime! Additionally, some of you may feel called to help teach our sweet kids! You can sign up as a permanent, monthly or weekly volunteer, or just help out as a substitute. Cahaba Elementary Veterans Day Program
All are invited, especially our veterans! November 10, 2022 from 9:30 - 10 AM. The program will take place outside on the historic front porch of Cahaba Elementary School. You can drive through the loop or bring a lawn chair and sit in the grass across the street by the big flagpole to watch.
Christmas Shoeboxes
We will once again participate in the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. Shoeboxes are available in the Transept and Welcome Center or you can use your own. Please return your packed boxes to the church by Friday, November 11th.
Kids First Needs Volunteers
Kids First Day School is in need of volunteers who can assist teachers during the lunch period. If you can volunteer any day of the week from 11:00 am - 1 pm, please email Amy Gulledge at amy@fumctrussville.com or call Kids First at 205-655-0583. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
UMCOR Hurricane Ian Relief
We will be collecting donations to UMCOR to help those impacted by the recent devastation of Hurricane Ian. To donate, make your check payable to TFUMC and put UMCOR on the memo line. You can drop off your donations to the church office or place them in the collection plate during the Sunday services. Donations will be accepted until October 31, 2022.
Youth Ministry
-Confirmation will begin again in 2023. If you have or know of a child who would like to go through confirmation, please email Phillip McEvoy at phillip@fumctrussville.com
-There are still envelopes hanging on the wall outside of Phillip’s office for our fundraiser, but we are thankful for everyone’s generosity so far! If you haven’t stopped by and picked up an envelope, then feel free to do so! The number on the outside of the envelope is the amount that you would donate. You may drop the envelope in the offering plate on Sunday, or you may drop it off at the office when it’s convenient for you.
UMM Monthly Meeting
The United Methodist Men will conduct their next monthly meeting on Sunday, November 13, 2022. Breakfast will be served at 7:00 am in the Fellowship Hall, followed by the meeting. This month we will honor Veteran’s Day with a presentation on the Vietnam War. “Vietnam – A View From The Ground” will be presented by the following men who saw combat in Vietnam: Joe Faughender (Field Artillery, 9th Infantry Division): Dan Shirah (Field Artillery, 25th Infantry Division); Jerry Marlow (Explosive Ordinance Disposal, US Marine Corps); and Jim Wolfe (Infantry, 1st Cavalry Division Airmobile). Breakfast will be provided by the New Beginnings Sunday School Class. Please notify Allen Hatcher by phone or text at (205) 773-9591 if you will be attending.
Community Food Bank
The Mission Team volunteers this month at the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama from 9:00 to 11:30 am on Thursday, November 17th. We are always accepting new volunteers! If you would like to join the team, please call Charlene Sharp at 205-835-2691 or email at csharp@bellsouth.net to register.
