United Methodist Men's Breakfast
The United Methodist Men will hold their monthly meeting on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 7.00 a.m.. The speaker for this month will be Dr. Brian Barsanti, the Executive Director of the Southern Museum of Flight. Please remember that we enjoy having wives and children attend the meeting. Please notify Allen Hatcher by text or phone at (205) 773-9591 no later than Thursday, October 7, 2021 to make a reservation.
Disciple Class
Dr. Steve Strange’s Disciple 2 Class will begin on Sunday, October 3rd from 4:30 – 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. This class will last approximately 36 weeks and you must have completed one of the other Disciple classes to participate. Please call the church office or email Candy Strickland at secretary@fumctrussville.com to sign up for this class.
UMCOR Donations
Our church will be collecting monetary donations over the next few weeks for UMCOR to assist hurricane victims. Please make your check payable to TFUMC and put UMCOR in the memo line. The cutoff for donating to UMCOR through the church is October 31, 2021. After this cutoff date, your donations can be mailed directly to Global Ministries/UMCOR, P. O. Box 9068, New York, NY 10087-906 and should be marked Advance #901670 (UMCOR US Disaster Response and Recovery.) Thank you.
Huffman Varsity Football Ministry
Thank you to everyone who has helped with donating and preparing food for the Huffman Varsity Football team. We still need your continued help in the following areas:
-We will need 75 meals for the next nine weeks, either prepared in to-go boxes or purchased at local restaurants in a to-go format.
-Your group or class can prepare a meal, or if your group or class is small, partner with another group or class to prepare a meal. If you are an individual who just wants to donate, we can use it to purchase food supplies for these meals.
-We will also be collecting cases of water, Gatorade, prepackaged peanut butter and assorted crackers, and power bars to take to the team so that they have these on hand.
-Please contact the church office (205-655-3259) to sign up for these meals. You can bring the supplies mentioned to the church office. Again, thank you for all you have done and will continue to do in the future!
Children's Ministry Upcoming Events
- October 24th will be our 3rd grade Bible presentation Sunday, at both the 8:30 and the 11:00 Grace Vision services.
- Trunk or Treat:
It's TRUNK OR TREAT time!
We are hosting our annual Trunk or Treat in the back parking lot on Sunday, October 31st from 4:00 - 5:30 PM We need decorated trunks AND candy donations! To donate candy, we accept only individually wrapped candy, please. Donations may be dropped off in the candy bin next to the Children’s Ministry Office. If you would like to volunteer with directing traffic/parking, please email Katie Morse - katie@fumctrussville.com
- Bring a Buddy Challenge:
Throughout the month of October, our children can participate in a “Bring a Buddy to Church” challenge. They can bring friends to Sunday School, church service, or Wednesday Night LIVE throughout the month and we will tally up points at the end of the month. There will be other ways to earn points as well. The top 3 points leaders will earn a prize, and there will be a group prize for hitting the goal that you won’t want to miss! Be on the lookout in your emails and on our Children’s Facebook page for more details!
- Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes will be arriving soon! This is a tremendous opportunity not only to provide children and teens around the world with Christmas gifts but to share with them the Gospel and create new believers in unreached communities. More information coming soon.
